Rio: Named user assignments exceeds licensed limit

asked on October 6, 2014

Hi all,

When the Laserfiche Server service starts up I'm seeing this error in the event viewer of the machine:

It is a Rio system and both the license manager and LFS are on this server.
There are zero named users assigned explicitly to the Laserfiche server (or repository), they are all registered as Windows Accounts in the License Manager instead. There are 454 users registers and 468 licenses available, so there is a few to spare.

The message doesn't appear to be true as new sessions can be created without a problem, can anyone shed any light on why it would appear?
For reference, the server is version 8.3.2.

Cheers and beers,
Martin

It's unclear why the Laserfiche Server would be reporting that as you've indicated that there are no repository named users allocated to that server.

In the meantime, can you generate a new copy of the Laserfiche Server license file from the Rio License Manager Administration Console? Then stop the Laserfiche Server service and go into the Laserfiche Server's program files folder (by default C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Server). Replace the old lf.licx file with the new one that was just generated. Also delete the lfsnu.db file from that same directory (or just move it out of that folder). Now restart the Laserfiche Server service and see if it still reports that error message in the application event log.
