Question

Error deleting a document page part volume data file

asked on August 28, 2014

This was posted about on the link below, but they never got an answer, so I figured I'd start a new thread to get some attention on it again.  Our customer is having the same problem.

Ever since we upgraded them to LF 9.1.1, they are seeing errors in the LF server event logs. All errors refer to the inability to delete files (a different file each time).  They all appear to be .LOC files that have had their TIF and TXT files already deleted.

"Error deleting a document page part volume data file.  Volume ID: 77 Store ID: 0001E6C8 Path: e:\Laserfiche Repositories\lfmain\.\VOLUME\VOLUME000011\00\01\E6\0001E6C8.LOC Error: 32"

I had a case open for extremely long loading times for Recycle Bin, and manually deleting the LOC file that it was erroring on at the time seemed to clear that up.  There are many more documents coming up with that error now, however.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

The file is in use by some process so lfs.exe can't delete it. Download Sysinternals Process Explorer and use its find open files feature to see which process has it open. It's probably lfs.exe, in which case you should restart LFS. If it's another process, you'll have to see why it has that file open.

I get that, and did discover that restarting LF Server unlocks it, but restarting LF Server to unlock files frequently isn't an ideal scenario.  :)

I guess the real question is why it's happening and how to prevent it.  It wasn't an issue prior to upgrading them to 9.1.1, and it looks like several others are having the same problem, judging from the other thread I referenced.  Any thoughts on the root cause?  It's definitely not ALL 9.1.1 installs, but I'm not sure what the common thread is for the ones that do have this issue.  Thanks for your help!

This is unintended behavior. The best way to get an answer for this question is to contact Support. They'll probably want to capture some information about your system, but they should be able to help you get this resolved.

Hi Tim,

I have seen the same error message in a client'server. Have you received an answer or possible solution to this?

Thanks!

I am also getting this error every 15 minutes:

Error deleting a document page part volume data file.  Volume ID: 82 Store ID: 00000244 Path: D:\LF Repository\LF000080\00\00\02\00000244.LOC Error: 32

Tim, Andres, and Chris,

Was LF support able to resolve this for any of you? Same issue here and we are also on 9.1.1. Thanks

Realize I'm a year late on this one, but we are unable to upgrade to a later release due to third party incompatibilities.

Has anyone reached a resolution with this one?  Our server logs and locked files are increasing drastically with too many to remove manually.  Seems to be linked to one single rollover volume.

Thanks!

I too am having the same problem and cannot upgrade from 9.1. Has there been any solutions on this problem. restarting the service regularly is not an acceptable solution
