asked on August 28, 2014 Show version history

 Dears,

Which Forms Licenses a customer should purchase for 4000 Participants that need to be configured in Load Balancing Mode (3 or 4 Forms Servers) to distribute the load (Around 1000 Participants per one web form server).

Thanks,

Dory Mina

Hey Dory,

I'm not a licensing expert, but I don't believe that adding load balancing into the equation changes the fact that if you need 4000 participant users, you'll need to purchase 4000 participant user licenses.  Was there something else that I may have missed?

Thanks Rob. Another question:

Suppose I want to install two form servers but not in load balancing mode, it is about two independent forms servers, both of them connect to the same Laserfiche Server. what is the forms license required?

If the Forms Servers are internal (all forms require authentication and a named or participant license), then you have unlimited server installs.  If the Forms Servers are public (anonymous access and no named or participant license required), then the answer depends on the platform they are on.

With Avante, only Forms Portal is available and it is licensed per server.

With Rio, there is Forms Portal (licensed per server) or Forms Enterprise Portal.  The Forms Enterprise Portal allows unlimited server installs.

Just to have your final Validation:

  • Non Anonymous access-Named Users:
  1. For Rio and Avnate, Laserfiche Forms is not Licensed per Laserfiche Server. We can Install many web forms servers, each is configured with an independent Laserfiche Server.
  2. For Rio and Avnate, Load balancing does not requires extra licenses other than to purchase one Laserfiche Forms License

  • Non Anonymous access-Participant Users:
  1. For RIO, on Form server creation, we assign the number of participants users that need to be used by the form server. If 100 participant users are purchased, then we can assign 40 for form server x to work with LF server X and 60 for Form server Y to work with LF server Y, right?
  2. Then, with forms license X, we can install many forms server to work with  lf server X as NLB. right?

Hey Dory,

1) For Rio, yes.  For Avante, there's generally only 1 server and the user base doesn't typically warrant load balancing.

2) Correct.

1)Correct, you'll assign participant licenses/users per forms server.

2) I don't think I understand what you're asking.
