Question

Invoke Workflow Activity

asked on August 13, 2014 Show version history

We had a client upgrade from 8.3 to 9.1.  This includes Workflow.  During the upgrade, they also did a migration to another server.  They have many Workflows that use the Invoke Workflow activity.

When the Workflows run, the Invoke Workflow activity is still pointing to the old server.  If you try and simply change the Activity, the freezes/hangs/generic Windows program error and you have to kill the Workflow Designer program.

You can however delete the entire Activity and redo it.  Is there a way to mass change the settings in the session itself?

I know it seems a little overkill, and at worst they need to go through every Workflow and redo the Invoke Activity, but they really have a lot of Workflows.

Thanks

The activity is trying to resolve the name of the Workflow Server with the DNS, so it takes a bit to time out looking for the machine on the domain.

There is no way to mass-update all workflows.

If the old server is being decommissioned, you could DNS-alias the new one with the old server's name.
