License on DR Server

asked on May 28, 2014 Show version history

Hi Everybody,

I got a client using Laserfiche Rio 9.0.2, installed on Hyper-V server with windows server 2012 as OS. They are actually implementing Disaster Recovery For their servers using VEEAM. The DR site is not part of their LAN or cluster. VEEAMis  able to replicate the Laserfiche server on the DR site.

The problem is that VEEAM created a new Hardware fingerprint for the replicated server. Therefore since the license is attached to a specific Hardware Fingerprint, laserfiche licenses  did not work on the replicated server, and finally revoking the license.

Has anyone encountered this issue? how did u deal with it if yes so that the Replicated server is fully functional without having the need to buy more Laserfiche server license for the DR Server?

Any other thought will be appreciated!

Note that we got license manager 8.3.1

 Regards Sweety

Rio comes with unlimited Servers. You can generate multiple Laserfiche Server instances for each of the replicated Servers that you need - just make sure to use the corresponding hwfp for that particular machine when you generate it. Installing the Laserfiche Server on the machines and activating them against your License Manager instance should also address this as well, automatically setting it up with a license with the correct hwfp.
