Is there a way to limit users ability to change template defaults in client application

 We have our repository set up so that new documents have a default template of the parent folder. That way, when users bring in a new document, they are forced to give values to the required fields, and documents are always assigned the correct template.

 

I have the everyone group set to use the parent folder's template in the attributes. My concern is that through the client, users can change the default template for new documents in the options menu. Is there a way to disable this feature for users in a windows group?

Hello Margaret,

 

I'm not aware of any Laserfiche built-in mechanism that fulfills your (legitimate) requirement. One thing that comes to my mind is a workflow to reset the documents' template should users attempt to change it. Note that changing templates does not clear the value of fields that are **not** part of the new template, so restoring to the default template will restore its fields values as well.

Hi Robyn,

I'm not sure if you ever got a reply but I have been looking into this a bit and found some related threads you might be interested in:

"Simply log into Windows [desktop] Client, goto Tools -> Options -> New Documents - > Import Profile as per the screenshot"

Thanks, Emily! I can't recall why I was asking, I suppose I was looking for the attributes coding for this to work. I'll keep these links handy if I remember, ha.
