Question

How can I assign field values for a dynamic field in the workflow designer?

asked on April 10, 2014

I'm having a difficult time in Workflow Designer 9.0.2.245 figuring out how to 'assign field values' for the initial step of the workflow using a dynamic field.

When I go into the 'assign field values' menu, and click the drop-down for the dynamic field, it shows a null value.

If I type in the value I know exists, it give me a 'value does not exist' error.

See attachment.

Anyone have any suggestions?

This behavior seems to be because your field is defined as a list, rather than a string field. Dynamic fields should be defined as string fields, the LF Client will create the list for you. The Workflow Designer will not show the values from the external table.

Thanks very much! You were correct. When I defined the field as 'text' rather than 'list', I was able to manually type in the value from the dynamic field (external table) that should be affiliated to the respective step of the workflow. Note for other users: be careful to type in the EXACT value form your table, or else the workflow breaks.
