Workflow Web 9.1.1 Upgrade - Error when searching for workflows

asked on April 8, 2014

I upgraded our test system to LF 9.1.1 and I installed workflow web using the default settings in the installer.

When I use the Search function of workflow web and attempt to search for a specific workflow by name, I get the following message:

Error

Access is denied. User 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE' does not have enough rights to perform this action. [0224-WF1]

I looked through the help documentation and the support site. I did not find these details in any white papers, the installation guide, or other documentation that describes what access is needed by the user listed above (or if the user should be changed).

What do I need to do to get this up and running?

What are the IIS authentication settings for the "WF" site set to?

Windows authentication is enabled. All others are disabled (anonymous, ASP.NET, forms)

What should it be?

Sorry for the late reply. It is supposed to be Windows Authentication. Does the Windows user currently logged in the machine have the Viewer right for that workflow on the Workflow Server?

Yes, the user logged in has rights, but the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE user apparently does not.

How can I make sure that the credentials for the user logged in (via windows) through the browser is what is being passed through the Workflow Web site? I still can't get this to work.

I believe this issue has been fixed, if you upgrade to the latest hotfix it should work.

Matt,

First, the hotfix was not easy to find. It doesn't show up on the first page of the support site as a new item, even though it is newer than most.

Second, I was under the impression that Laserfiche updated each of the major install packages with hotfixes as they are created. This was the behavior in 8.3. Has this officially changed?

Example:

Laserfiche Avante 8.3.2 is a maintenance release offering bug fixes and performance enhancements for the Laserfiche Server, Client, Administration Consoles, Scanning, Snapshot, and Office Integration 8.3. This package also contains the current version of Workflow 8.3.1. This release includes support for English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian) and Spanish. This item will download a self-extracting executable containing the release package. This package is also for use with Team and United installations. For more information on this release, see the Laserfiche 8.3.2 release announcement. Updated 11/30/2012 for KB 1013107. Updated 12/17/2012 for KB 1013128. Updated 01/29/2013 for KB 1013152. Updated 03/11/2013 for KB 1013177.

The hotfix has been installed, but I'm still getting the same error message. What's next?

Weird, I know we fixed an almost identical issue already, but I'm assuming this is it manifesting in a different way. Please open a support case.

Hi All,

What was the resolution for this in the support case? I'm running into this same error in the WF designer application when searching.

Access is denied. User 'username' does not have enough rights to perform this action. [0224-WF1]

The user I am logged in as, has full local admin rights to the server. I can do anything apart from search for workflows.

Thanks!
