In the License Manager Help File (.chm) there is a page called "Detaching a Licensing Database and Unregistering a License Server" which has these instructions.

Detaching a Licensing Database and Unregistering a License Server

You may need to unregister your license server or detach your database for troubleshooting purposes, or to move your License Manager server to a new computer. Note that detaching your database will also deactivate it.

To detach your licensing database

  1. Open the Laserfiche License Manager Administration Console.
  2. Expand the Laserfiche License Manager node, and select your License Server.
  3. Select your licensing database.
  4. Right-click, or open the Action menu, and select Detach Licensing Database.
  5. Confirm that you want to detach the database.  The database will be detached in place, and the .db file will remain in its current location.

To unregister your license server

  1. Open the Laserfiche License Manager Administration Console.
  2. Expand the Laserfiche License Manager node, and select your License Server.
  3. Right-click, or open the Action menu, and select Unregister License Server.
  4. Confirm that you want to unregister your server.

Then you would just attach the licensing database to your new License Manager Server.

The information is also in the Laserfiche Rio Deployment Guide (https://support.laserfiche.com/GetFileRepositoryEntry.aspx?id=2865&mode=download), in the last section.  (That link is to the 9.1 version of the paper, but the instructions are accurate back to at least 8.1.)

Hello,

Thank you for the replies. I went through the steps and when I tried to re-attach the database file to the new License Server, I received the following error:

There was a SQL error. (2028)

I have tried a few times and it keeps happening.

Any ideas of what could be causing this?

Thanks!

At this point, what the issue is probably depends on your specific configuration. I'd recommend contacting your VAR to see if you should open a support case.

Hello Mohammed, Make sure you verify the credentials used to connect to the SQL database. That ended up being my issue. Also, check the Event viewer for more detailed error messages. Tony
