Question

Import Agent limits in RIO deployment

asked on February 26, 2014

In a Rio deployment:

  1. Does Import Agent licensing allow multiple installations?
  2. Can a single Import Agent instance have sessions importing into different repositories on different servers?
  3. What is the practical session limit for a single instance of Import Agent?

1) Import Agent is an instanced add-on. So you license the number of installations of it you'll want on your Rio system, similar to Quick Fields.

2) In Rio, one instance of Import Agent can connect to all of your Servers using different profiles. In Avante it can only connect to the specific Server it's affiliated with.

3) Not sure on that one, I'll direct it to someone else.

The user used by Import Agent 8.1 or later does not require a named user license.

If I'm going to have 2 profiles, one that is monitoring Folder A for any changes and uploading as documents come in (our main fax line feeds), as well as another group of folders (main folder with sub-folders) that will contain larger PDF files...if the ImportAgent will loop through the profiles, this would mean that if the agent is still working on a PDF file that it will have temporarily stopped acting on documents that show up in Folder A until the PDF file has been completed?

Answer to Cameron's question: it will keep working on the PDF files until it finishes all the files in that folder and subfolders, then goes back to Folder A to import the files there.

Is there really no one with Laserfiche that can answer these questions?

I am not sure what you mean by "practical session limit" exactly, but, with one instance of Import Agent, you can create as many profiles you want, which will allow monitoring different folders (could include subfolders) on your file system and importing files to the repositories you set to (as long as they are on the Servers that Import Agent is licensed to). Note that it will loop through the profiles one after another, rather than executing them all at once.

Hope that answers your question.
