Removing Old Laserfiche Server from Dropdown List

asked on December 20, 2013 Show version history

I recently assisted a client with Upgrading and Moving their LF server to a new machine. The client has since completely uninstalled the old Laserfiche server software from the other server, however, when you set up Snapshot and use the drop down list for servers, the old and new server are showing up.  How do you remove that old server from showing up.

I am not sure if it is something in the DNS entries on the domain controller or what, but this client installed the Version 9 Laserfiche client on a brand new PC that never had Laserfiche before and then when he went into the Snapshot configuration to set it up, both server names showed up (screen shot below).  Any thoughts or things we could try is greatly appreciated.

When the Laserfiche Server is installed, it publishes a service connection point in your Active Directory Domain Services for the server service. This is how the Laserfiche Client figures out if there are any Laserfiche Servers on the network. You can remove the listing from client programs, such as Snapshot, by removing the SCP. We include a command line utility with the Laserfiche Server (in the installation folder) called “LfsCPCfg.exe” to help manage these SCPs.

To remove an SCP, run the command “lfscpcfg list”, note the distinguished name for the SCP you want to remove, and then run the command “lfscpcfg delete “distinguishedName”” (where distinguishedName is the name you noted from the previous command). When you’re done, the SCP should no longer be listed when you run “lfscpcfg list”. More information about using LfsCPCfg can be found in KB Article 1012732, found on the Support Site.

Hi Zachary,

How would one configure the Laserfiche Service to not try and automatically publish a SCP each time the service restarts?

For example, my client has multiple Laserfiche Servers, DEV / QA / PRODUCTION etc. The end user does not need to see DEV and QA servers and their respositories. Removing the SCP is easy, but each time the service is restarted, LF publishes the SCP again.

Thanks

Sheldon

The server I need to delete the SCP for no longer exisists

I receive the following error

"Failed to delete SCP: The server is not operational."

Is there another way to remove it so the client does not see it ?

Thanks
