Are Snapshot settings supposed to carry over in an upgrade from 8.3 to 9.0.x? Additionally, why do some registry keys maintain the previous version's name (i.e. "Snapshot8" and "Client8") and some add a separate key? Thanks!

Answer
Hi Tim,
Assuming you're installing on the same machine, Snapshot settings should stay identical after the upgrade to 9.0. Are you finding that that's not the case for you?
As for why some registry keys change names and others don't... That's a tricky one to answer! The specific reasoning differs a bit for each key. I think the simplest explanation is just that it's nice to keep the key names accurate when possible, but it's easier to leave them as-is.
I've got a customer who is upgrading a couple dozen users, and she's found the results vary. Sometimes the settings stay, sometimes they reset.
In one instance, there was no template drop-down list in Snapshot Configuration. I went into the user's registry and found that there was "Client8" and "Client." I deleted "Client" and the user's drop-down list appeared like normal.
She's leery of continuing the upgrades because she doesn't know what to expect on each machine. Is there a way to create a more consistent result? She's doing the exact same process on each machine, but the users' specific dot version (and sometimes even their OS version) varies.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

I apologize for the trouble your customer is having! That's not something we've seen in our testing. I'd recommend opening a Support case. Our tech support team will be able to deduce what's going wrong, and work with the development team to make sure that other users don't run into the same issue. Thanks!
We've ran into an issue upgrading from snapshot 8 to 9. It looks like snapshot 9 creates a new registry entry and doesn't carry the settings over.
