Question

Forms Deployment in RIO

asked on July 9, 2013

Does the deployment of Laserfiche Forms on two different Laserfiche Servers require the purchase of two Forms Licenses?

We have a Laserfiche server and Laserfiche form server on a testing environment. Do we need to purchase another license fo Forms If we need to move to a production environment without deactivating the testing Form server?

In Laserfiche Rio, multiple instances of Forms Server can be installed per license. So if you want Forms connected to two Laserfiche Servers, you would need to install two instances of Forms, but you could do this with one Forms Server license.

Aaron - it's still only allowed to connect to one repository, right?

I did not know that forms in rio allowed you to connect to install forms on any number of servers.

That's correct. Currently, with Forms 9.0.1, one Forms instance can only connect to one Laserfiche repository.

Is this still true in the current version 10.4?

Unfortunetly the way Laserfiche Forms is currently licensed and programmed it only works with one LF server - what's more it only runs on one repository on that one server.

At advance VAR training they indicated they are looking at the question of allowing it to connect to multiple repositories on one server and may be adding that in a future release. I don't know if there will ever be connections to multiple servers too.

I know this is an old post but will Forms be able to connect to multiple servers/repositories. This is not an ideal situation in a Rio environment where there are multiple servers and repositories.

We currently have three production and two test servers with multiple business units having their own repositories.

Only forms *public* portal is tied to one server. For regular forms servers if you have more than one LF server you want to connect to, you can stand up more than one forms server.

Of course this requires a separate VM to do so.
