Question

New Quick Fields for RIO

asked on May 13, 2013 Show version history

Good morning,

Sorry if this is a simple question but they'd like to make sure the procedure.  To be honest it's confusing me a little as well since we have not seen it in awhile.  The customer ordered another Quick Fields license (they had 2 before and should now be on 3).  How do we activate this new key?  In the License Manager (8.2), under their license database, do we pick "add master license"?  This seems like the spot where we would reactivate the server to go get that new license.

Also, then I am assuming that we have to register a new application instance for Quick Fields?  Here is what they have now.  Note how we have two Quick Fields  I can register another instance under Quick Fields but they are only licensed for 1 instance each.  So I am assuming that I will have to add another Quick Fields application.  Guess I am just confused as to what exactly do I need to update and register for them to get their new Quick Fields license.  Once I get the license I can handle the install no problem.  I'll just put that lf.licx file where I can get at it and point Quick Fields to it.

Sorry for the bother and thanks

It sounds like you have it spot on.  Once you add the master license, this will allow you to add another instance of Quick Fields on another workstation.  As for adding the new Quick Fields application instance, it should show up automatically as a third Quick Fields icon so long as you keep the “Renew license in database” checkbox selected in the “Add Master License” window.

As always, let us know if you have any other questions!
