SQL Server Not Found Upgrading to Workflow 12.0.2605.385

asked on September 14

I tried to upgrade to Workflow 12.0.2605.385 from 12.0.2510.3321 today and received the following message:

I tried changing the certificate field to Optional and still got the same message. I know the account that I was logged in with and the account running the Workflow services have access to the SQL server in question.

I endedup uninstalling and reinstalling the previous version with the exact same accounts and SQL server and it is working.

Any ideas what is different about 12.0.2605.385 that would cause this?

Hi Blake,

Could you please check if ".NET Data Provider for SqlServer" counter exists on the machine? Please go to start menu -> Performance Monitor (Screenshot below).

If it does not exist, run the command below in powershell as administrator to register the counter as workaround, and then reopen the Workflow Configuration Manager. The issue is also filed in bug 674157.

  1. lodctr "C:\Windows\INF\.NET Data Provider for SqlServer\_dataperfcounters_shared12_neutral.ini"

Regards,

Qinmei

I will have to wait to try this again when we schedule the upgrade again. You're saying the counter is what causes the Workflow Configuration error?

Yes, the counter will cause the workflow configuration error.

The counter did not exist. I ran the PowerShell command and it is there now. When I reschedule the upgrade, I'll let you know how it goes.
