Question

What happens when you hit your smart field limit?

asked on August 19

Customer has LF Cloud, what happens when you hit your Smart Field limit?  Does it stop or do you get charged, and if so, is it for another block of 5K?

At this point I've heard that it stops until they purchase the next block and it is added to their system. I have heard rumblings that Laserfiche is looking at providing a way to Notify the Account that they will soon run out of Units so they can upgrade proactively but until then, you just have to keep an eye on it, and cross your fingers.

If you reach the limit on AI units, processing is no longer triggered when the template is set from automated processes like Workflow.

For manual smart fields applications, they are not counted against AI units, but there is a rate limit on calls the user makes. If too many calls are made on a short period of time, calls exceeding the limit are ignored and an error is shown to the user.

Also keep in mind that what Miruna mentions about manual smart fields applications is regarding Laserfiche Cloud. I know this post is tagged with Laserfiche Cloud, but I know someone will read this with self-hosted and wonder why it is counting against their units.

Steve says "have heard rumblings that Laserfiche is looking at providing a way to Notify the Account that they will soon run out of Units..."

What does LF actually says about that?

Kind of inconvenient to be stuck in the middle of important auto processing and bahm! stop. No notification nor previous warning

The notification is on the to-do list. However, keep in mind, that even with a notification, you may still run out in the middle of a processing a large batch and, depending on the load on your system, it could happen fairly fast after the notification.
