Installer permissions issues

asked on July 21 • Show version history

When the LF Installer is started without Elevated permissions, it prompts to restart with elevated privileges.

If they start the installer with "Run As Administrator", then it tries to write its data to the AppData of the user whose credentials where provided instead of to the current users AppData and the current user does not have permissions to another users AppData location so it errors out as well.

How are we supposed to install the software without logging into the local machine with an administrative user?

This issue has been resolved in the latest version of the Laserfiche Installer. Users can now launch the Laserfiche Installer with standard user privileges and complete the installation using alternate administrator credentials

It's also a problem that there is an installer of the LFInstaller program, and running it as Admin will install the LFInstaller and then open it, but it didn't retain the elevated permissions, so then it tells you you need to log in with the elevated permissions.  You end up having to install the LFInstaller, and then close it, and then re-open it with Admin permissions from your Start Menu or elsewhere.  It's not really clear what it is doing and took trial and error to understand.

Any input from LF on how we can install without having to log into the machine as an administrative user?
