The "Stay Signed In" Option is Not Working on LFAnswers with Google Chrome

asked on June 25 • Show version history

Is it just me, or have others been having trouble with the "Stay Signed In" not working here on LFAnswers for the last month or so?

I have to log in basically every time I come to the site, no matter how many times I click the option to "Stay Signed In".

EDIT: Looks like this is just in Chrome - Edge doesn't show the same behavior.

Same here. Same with the Support site.

I guess it's nice to know it isn't just me.  laugh

It has never worked for me.  I have to authenticate back in all day.

Have you tried clearing your cache? It works for me.

Yeah, and unfortunately that didn't make any difference.

Wonder if it is browser specific.  I'm on Chrome 149.  How about you?

Edge 149.0.4022.80

I'll have to try it in Edge.

I just logged in with Edge, and will have to check later on to see what it does.

I did already notice one difference though.  In Chrome, I had to check the "Stay Signed In" checkbox when I did the username and password, and then again when I did the authenticator value.  But in Edge, the box remained marked after the username and password, so I didn't need to re-check it with the authenticator.  So that already has me thinking it is being handled differently by the two browsers.

I use Edge as my primary as well and yes, that option seems to work well enough for me.

Yeah, looks like it is just Chrome.  This morning Chrome wanted me to log in again as usual while Edge still retained the login from yesterday.

I've edited the post's title and body to reflect that it is only Chrome doing this.

"Stay signed in" will give you a session that lasts 2 weeks before you're asked to sign in again. Deployments to the support site may wipe out all existing sessions though. We deployed updates last night.

But also, there is a new idle session timeout: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/237109/Automatic-Logout-for-Inactive-Laserfiche-Community-Sessions

Yeah, that's not the behavior we're seeing in Chrome.  It's lasting 2 hours at best, and has been consistently doing this every day for a couple months now.
