UPDATED: MORE ISSUES NOTED New Version of Snapshot Errors When Template Has Read Only Fields

asked on May 27 Show version history

I just set up a new computer for a user yesterday and used the LF Installer to install the latest versions of the repository desktop client, snapshot, MS Office Integration, etc. I noticed right away that Snapshot is visually different from the versions my other users currently have installed. When the user attempts to print a document to the repository using Snapshot and applying a template that includes read-only fields, they receive an error message "Another operation on which this operation depends failed" (sometimes listed multiple times). This has not been an issue with any prior version of Snapshot, and it seems like a bug to me. The user can create a new document in the repository by dragging in a document and applying these templates, or add these templates to existing documents just fine, but Snapshot won't let them print the document with the template being assigned inside Snapshot. They can print using Snapshot without applying a template or applying a template without read-only fields successfully. Please advise if anyone else has experienced this.

UPDATE: More issues noted with this new Snapshot, including

  • When multiple documents are open at the same time, this new version can’t determine which document to print to if you are choosing that option. The old version printed to the active document, so as long as you clicked on the document you wanted the new pages added to before utilizing Snapshot, it would add the pages to the correct document. This version simply errors out and you have to close all documents including the one you want to print to, and then reopen the one you want to print to or this error persists.
  • When you select to replace all pages, this version of Snapshot removes the old pages but not any annotations related to them. So you end up with annotations from the original page(s) appearing on the new page(s) in the same positions even though they make no sense on the new page(s).

Hi Melanie,
Thank you for reporting these issues in such detail.

The problems related to read-only fields causing import failures (Bug ID: 672093), as well as annotations not being removed when replacing pages (Bug ID: 672096), have already been reported on our side, and we're currently working on resolving them.

Regarding the second issue (Snapshot not being able to determine the active document), it would be very helpful if you could provide detailed steps to reproduce the issue, along with screenshots of the error message(s) to assist with further investigation.

From our testing, we've observed that when two or more folder panes (main windows) are open, the following error may occur:
"Multiple documents are selected in the client so the %(CurrentDocument) token couldn't be resolved".

However, if only one folder pane is open (even with multiple document viewers open), Snapshot can correctly determine the active document.

We're not yet certain if this matches your scenario, so your confirmation would be very helpful.

This occurs when only one folder pane is open, but more than one document viewer is open.

Thank you for your information. I'm able to reproduce the issue and have reported it (reference bug ID: 672564). We will continue to work on improvements.
