Snapshot Slow to Retrieve Repository Information

asked on May 5

Hello,

I have been struggling with a situation where a client moved users to a new workstation and since the move they have been reporting that Snapshot is extremely slow to load when they go to print. It gets hung up retrieving the repository information such as in the example below.

I have gone through the registry keys, made sure the server information is hardcoded, etc, but I it has not had an impact on how quickly Snapshot takes before they can kick off the print. Is there a setting or some special configuration that would be speed this up, such as how the Windows Client allows scanning the network to be disabled?

Thanks,

Stephen

We noticed a change about a week or so ago also. Ruled out network, DNS and firewall so far. Here's our environment:

Client VM hosted in Azure via Azure Virtual desktop running Windows 11 24H2 multi-session

Server VM hosted in Azure running Server 2019 w/ April security patches applied.

The issue is NOT happening when the client VM is running Windows 2019 server, just notice this in our AVD environment--so I'm leaning towards "something changed on the client".

Subscribed to this post in hopes of an answer and will post any findings I find. Thanks!

@████████ - When you mentioned

I have gone through the registry keys, made sure the server information is hardcoded

Can you clarify what registry keys and values you checked?

Verify that under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\Options, there is a string named "Thunk" with the value 0, and under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Laserfiche\Client8\Profile\IPDatabase, there is a string named after your repository with the value being the name of the Laserfiche Server machine.

With that in place, is Snapshot still slow to load the list of repositories?

I can confirm my registry values are set as specified and snapshot is still slow to authenticate.

I "resolved" my issue--I had a 2nd NIC attached to the LF server that was in a different VNET in Azure. I took that 2nd NIC away and now things are performing normally.
