Question

Question

Server and application installs

asked on January 22

Good Afternoon,

We are upgrading our Laserfiche servers to Server 2022, and I am taking this time to look at our server layouts and what applications are installed where, to see if we move things around for better performance. Right now we have the following applications installed:

App Server

LFDS

LF Server

WebClient

WebLink (Internal)

Import Agent

EMail Archive Service

Web Server

Audit Trail

Forms Server

Notifications Hub and Master

DCC worker-jobs as needed

Workflow Server

Workflow

Quick Fields

Distributed Cluster Service

Database Server

SQL

I'm thinking about moving the webclient and weblink installs to our Web Services server, to see if we can get a bit better performance. Any other suggestions on changes, or changes not to make?

Thanks,

Eric

I would do the following:

  • Move the Web Client and WebLink to your Web server
  • Move Audit Trail to your App server
  • Based on the resources and your application settings, I would separate Workflow, Quick Fields, and the DCC workers to their own servers.

What Blake said. If Quick Fields or DCC get any sort of load, move them off your Workflow Server. They're both running OCR which can be CPU intensive. On the other hand, if you're only running a Quick Fields session at a time and only have one DCC worker and the machine has more than 8 CPUs, I wouldn't stress about it.
