installing the demo VM

Hello Everyone. Can some please provide some guides installing and configuring the LF Demo VM. It just says to install the VM Player? Is this all one needs to set up the demo VM? I have read about licensing the components and am ok with that, I just wonder if there is nothing else to do apart from these.

Also i understand that i have to deactivate the Demo VM from current system if i want to use or set it up on another laptop. What does this deactivation really mean?

Dear Adeyemi,

You need to first download VMWarePlayer to be able to run the Sales VM.

Once installed, download the Laserfiche Demo VM from the SP Portal

1. Download the zipped Virtual Machine here. Use the following password to access the file: S4vxuL#g

2. Enter a product key for Windows to license it

3. License each Laserfiche product using the Activation tool located under the Laserfiche Server directory
(C:\ProgramFiles\Laserfiche\Server\ActivationTool.exe) and place licenses in their respective folders, listed in
this KB article. For full instructions, review the  Activating the Solution Provider Kit on the LaserRepository  guide. You can also review the Activating the Demo Machine video within the Sales Tools Repository for additional guidance.

4. Install Microsoft Office

Then you can run the VM from the VMWarePlayer (run the Sales VM zip file)

Deactivating it just means removing the image from the VMWarePlayer.

Thank you Harry for the guides. I have actually downloaded and installed  the VMWare Player as well as the DemoVM. I am setting it up on a new Laptop. However, we had set up our VAR Demo Kit on a previous system which we no longer want to use. So I am concerned now about how to delicense the previous installation so i can license the DemoVM on the new Laptop. So if i remove the image from the VMWarePlayer from the old system, I can then easily license the DemoVM on the new Laptop?

By the way I signed up for the Sales Tool Repository to be able to access the Activating The Demo Machine Video but have received no reply since.

You will first need to deactivate the different products from within your old vm on persistent mode:

To deactivate the different products you can follow this guide:

Then you will be able to use those activation keys for your new device.
