Getting a message asking to insert a disk during the Laserfiche 11.0 upgrade

asked on January 23, 2024

What does this message mean? I have not used a disk in a computer for nearly a decade. We are using the usual ISO which should contain all the install files, never received this messages before, might be my first time using the December 2023 updated ISO.

Hi Chad, I've seen as well. In speaking with Laserfiche it is a known issue if you choose to mount the ISO. Their suggestion is to mount the ISO and then copy the files to your local drive instead, and run the installer from there, and the issue does not appear.

Yes, known issue. I always recommend copying the files from the ISO to a local/network file location and running them from there.

Between issues like this one and a wide variety of customer security settings/policies on running executables from removable media like ISOs, I don't bother rolling the dice on running installers directly from the ISO any more.

(We switched to the ISO format because we hit the maximum size of self-extracting exe/zips a few updates ago at around ~4.2 GB)

Same here. Copying the mounted ISO files to my local drive and running the installer from there instead resolved this issue for me.

Unexpected, I have been using the ISO format for awhile now just by double clicking without any issue. Thanks for the explanation.
