Question

Forms 11 and Topaz Signature Pad not working

asked on October 27, 2023

I followed the steps in this LF Answers post - Forms 10.4 and Topaz Signature Pad - Laserfiche Answers

After I completed all the steps, the form is just loading, it has been 20 minutes, and it is still not populated the part for me to sign the form.

How do I resolve this issue?

I tested the form and it went thru but I wasn't prompted to sign anything and my tablet is on.

Hello,

If anyone has any feedback I would appreciate it.

We have a customer waiting on our testing to move forward with purchasing approx. 50 of these Topaz Readers.

Thanks,
Jeff Curtis

Hi Keisha,

I can see from the screenshot that the <script> tag is directly showing on the form , while normally it shouldn't.

Is there any JS error in the console when loading or submitting the form? Could you double check your Topaz Signature Pad setup on form? :)

Hello Yuxuan,

In step 2. part C. it states to add an custom HTML field and what is what I did. Is there a different way to complete this step? I am also not seeing any JS errors.

2. Add custom html field to the form

    a. Get SigWebTablet.js from  http://www.sigplusweb.com/SigWebTablet.js, you can just copy and paste from the page and save it into a file named as "SigWebTablet.js"

    b. Put SigWebTablet.js file into Forms/lib/

(You can put the file anywhere in the project as long as it is the same as the src path in the script tag so that the file can be referred)

   c. In form designer, under Layout tab, drag a Custom Html field to the canvas, and inside Custom Html field, under Basic tab,  click on Html tab,  and paste in the following line:

       <script src="/Forms/lib/SigWebTablet.js"></script>

JS Code

Jeff, out of curiosity, what are they needing this integration for?

Hey Blake,

They want to use it to sign Forms.

Thanks,

I was just curious if a tablet would be a better solution. They are so cheap these days and with a tablet you could use the built in signature field instead of trying to get JavaScript to work.

Hi Jeff,

For custom HTML could you double check if you pasted in the Html tab, usually if you paste script tag in Html it shouldn't show on the page.

And If you pasted it in Visual part then it won't work.

Hope it helps!

Thanks,

Yuxuan

Hello Yuxuan, @████████

I added the script in the </> tab of the Custom HTML filed I still can't sign the form. Please see below. I click submit and the form loads as normal, no screen appears to sign.

Hello @████████,

Well, our client is going to purchase the Topaz tablet. How do I connect the Topaz tablet to the Signature field? I have it connected, and it will let me sign with my mouse but not the tablet.

Hello Keisha
You must take into account that after connecting the signature pad you must restart the equipment, sometimes this has happened to me and after restarting it works perfectly.

Greetings

Ricardo

Hello @████████

Yes, I have restarted multiple times, and it still doesn't prompt me to sign.

Hi Keisha,

I noticed you are using the new form designer, and you are adding some customized javascript code in the JS section, however this is not supported way with the new form designer. And Topaz seems not supported in new form designer either, so you may try with the classic form designer.

Hello @████████,

in a different post a couple people verified it would work in Laserfiche 11, with the modern designer. @████████@████████

Hi Keisha,

I just confirmed with @Rui Deng, this is not supported in modern form so far, because the javascript cannot work in modern form designer. You should tend to classic form designer, which I believe you already find the steps to follow up.

My apologies for any confusion here, we were only able to get this to work with a classic built form.
