Hi,
I was just reading this question https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/74811/column-profiles-for-parent-folders-and-subfolders#repliestomain and was wondering if there was any updated functionality added (if not I will submit a feature request, as I could see this being useful).
The question is: is there a way to set a column profile on a parent folder and have it populate down to child folders without having to set the column profile on every single child folder OR making it global and thus affecting folders it wouldn't apply to?
As an example, we are doing a migration right now for a business area with 4700 folders. It's impractical for me to manually go to each folder and set a column profile for each, but there are differences in applicable profiles at maybe the third level in (so at the third level, there is an AP folder and an Agreements folder, as an example, and it would be helpful if each had a different column profile applied within the folder and to its children).
I've read that it can be set with attributes, but it seems like an impractical way to update the view and set population as it requires editing the attributes for each folder. Is there a way to set inheritance that I haven't been able to find? If you set the inheritance of a column profile, can you break it if necessary for a folder? Can you copy those settings between users or push them globally to a group of people?
It would be very useful and save us a ton of configuration, plus make things easier for our users too if we could set up column profiles and have them inherit where required plus copy them to the users who need them. If sort or filter options could be embedded or set and retained per-user, that would be even better.
Any clarification would be super helpful.
Thanks!
