I have a user who is trying to use web client on an Iphone. They want to know if there was a way to format it so that it looks better. Below the file name next to the icon the words below are almost on top of the files name like they are merged together. When they change the dimensions to a higher resolution it fixes but they were wondering if there was a similar fix for lower resolution where the words were not on top of each other. It is an iphone SE and they are using Chrome's mobile view. I don't know if this matters or not, but the lower resolution has the words "Date modified (With the date)" and the higher resolution does not show that on the screen.

why not use the iOS app instead of Chrome or any other browser?
I mean, maybe there's a compelling reason not to use the app that I'm not aware?
But the apps were designed precisely to avoid seeing a lot of data and images (like any LF document might have) using browsers on a tiny smartphone screen.
They are free to use, so, why not?
Could give the app a try, but then that is another app to manage/deploy/update.
The Laserfiche Web Client works fine on phones (and tablets) that have a vertical resolution higher than 767 (768 and higher works).
Thanks.
Hi Codi and James,
The iPhone SE Gen 2/3 appear to be the only iOS devices released in the last five years with vertical resolutions below 768 pixels (excluding iPod Touch models).
See: https://www.ios-resolution.com/
I even checked common resolutions of devices on a "best budget Android phones of 2018" list and they overwhelmingly had 1080p screen resolutions.
Device resolutions are trending higher, not lower, so it's unlikely we'll make any changes to Web Client to accommodate especially low resolutions that in practice seem to only exist on those two iPhone SE models.
Depending on how many users are affected here:
- If many, I second the Laserfiche iOS app recommendation; or,
- If few and these are organization-issued devices, not BYOD, you may find it more practical to issue higher resolution devices. Used iPhone 11s or 12 mini's can be readily found for a little over $300/each. For a few users, that's realistically cheaper than the IT overhead of managing/deploying/updating the app.
Hello,
The current generation iPhone SE will not work with web client due to the resolution issue. Also, we have numerous Samsung Galaxy S9 phones deployed that have the same problem. Are they a few years old? Yes. Do they work perfectly fine? Yes. There is no need to create more e-waste.
It seems like Laserfiche is pushing for adoption of the web client, so I thought this would be a good use for it rather than deploying another app. Also, we are trying to post a link to a specific folder in the repository, which is easy to do in the web client - I'm not sure about the app.
Hi James,
You should be able to use the same URL you would use for the web client, but replace https:// with "LFMobile://"
to:
I am curious about the Samsung Galaxy S9 devices having the same problem though. Those appear to have 1440p physical resolutions, though are set to 1080p by default (apparently for battery life purposes). Both are well above the 768 vertical pixel threshold you described in your previous post.
If we set the link on our intranet to LFMobile:// - then the link won't work when users click on it from their desktops.
I'll check on the S9 resolution.
Did some testing on the S9 and even set to the max resolution it supports, the page still does not render properly. Also tried messing with the display "zoom" settings and font size. Nothing made it display properly. Perhaps it has more to do with physical screen size than resolution and what Chrome is doing to scale?
To my knowledge, Laserfiche's device responsive scaling only deals with pixels and has no concept of physical screen size. That's not to say Chrome doesn't though.
Could you open a support case through your Solution Provider that references this Answers post and mentions "web client bug 420250" (a related internal ticket we recently filed)? Make sure to include the exact Web Client version number, a list of known affected and unaffected mobile devices, and clearly labeled/named screenshots demonstrating the issue?
That'll be the best way forward to investigate.
@████████ - Can you open the support case for us? I can get you the screenshots and other info.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9. I don't generally use it to access the repository, but with a quick test I don't see anything obviously broken. What do you find that doesn't work? I tested using Chrome.
For the iPhone SE, I don't have a physical device. The emulator in Chrome shows some toolbar items overlapping on such a narrow screen. Have you noticed more significant problems?
See attached screenshots for what the web interface looks like on iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S9. I had my Laserfiche reseller open a ticket with Laserfiche and they acknowledged this was a bug and filed under bug ID 420250. Waiting on a fix from Laserfiche.
I've seen the support case was updated with screenshots much closer to what I saw on my phone. Do you know what caused the odd layout in the first screenshots? Were some resources not loading?
I don't know what is causing it to not load properly.
The updated screenshots attached to the case are after we upgraded our Laserfiche installation to the latest version (update 5 I think?). So they must have made some fixes.
