How to update the content an already finished task of a Inclusive Gateway

asked on February 21, 2023 Show version history

Hello I have a task within an Inclusive Gateway that was completed with content errors within the form that corresponds to this task, which I need to update to put the right data in that task.

In that even gateway that I mention there are about 5 tasks still pending (Multiple Steeps) by other users who have not yet been completed, which gives me time to fix human writing error in the form.

Is there any way to restart any specific task within a (multiple steeps) in

Inclusive Gateway , without affecting the rest of the tasks?

The task marked in green is what I need to restart to correct content errors that became bad in that step of the form.

Thank You

Mark,

What version of Forms are you on? If you are on version 11 it has the ability for Administrators to edit variable values. So, you wouldn't need to send it back to a previous step, you could just update the variable value as needed.

I have Laserfiche Forms Professional Version 10.4.5.282

You would need to upgrade to version 11 to get the feature I mentioned. I don't believe there is a way to do what you are asking in version 10 without manipulating the database and that is not recommended.

We are scheduling a technical assistance from Laserfiche technical support to update our servers to the latest version, as soon as we do I will review your recommendations and let you know the results. Thank you very much for answering me and taking time to explain.

I believe that even with 11 (we just upgraded) you cannot restart something that is already "completed".

I haven’t tested this yet - but from a comment on another post - it sounds like version 11 update 3 added the ability to restart a completed user task.

So upgrading not only will add the ability to edit the variables on the instance in progress, but may (unless I misunderstood) include the ability to restart the task…

Perhaps that can help, because it is not the same to restart the entire form from 0 to restarting just one task, since it would be complicated because many departments are involved that process information for each request. It is also something logical to take into account, human error when filling out the forms, information can be wrong and somehow it needs to be corrected without having to throw everything down.

I'll keep you updated as soon as we do the Laserfiche update.

Thank You

This is the post that made me think this was possible to restart a completed task:

https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/206615/Forgot-to-Save-to-Laserfiche-any-options#206642

It's by a Laserfiche employee.

That said, I'm looking in my system, and I'm not seeing how to do it...

On version 11, you can definitely edit variable values of the in-progress instance, so that really may work for your situation.

But I'm not 100% on this restarting a completed task thing...

EDIT TO ADD:  Oh, never mind.  I see in the List of Changes that it says "Ability to reopen a completed/terminated instance in the main process. An admin may restart a user task in the main process with all current process variable data if an instance has any issues. Restarting tasks within a sub process is not supported."  And the first three I'd looked at were all subprocesses.  I do see the option on some other completed instances that are not using subprocesses.
