[FEATURE REQUEST] - Enable/Disable Action Button relating to Comments Container in New Designer

posted on February 9, 2023

We have a specific requirement detailed here: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/205923/forms-11-Update-3--Scripting#205950

The summary is: In the New Designer, we want the native comments box to be required when clicking a specific Action button. Alternatively - the native Comments box needs to have content in it before you can select a specified Action Button.

Possibly the following could work?:

  • Enable/Disable
    • 'Action Button X'
      • when
        • Comments isn't/is Empty

The reason we want to use the native comments container and not a field (where we have full control) is that the process can go around multiple query/reply loops.. and we want to capture that dialogue in the Action History.

We can use JS in Classic designer to achieve this; but apparently not in New Designer?

Thanks :)

Additionally, it would be great to allow the native comment box to be manipulated by field rules and to allow the same native comment box to be required or not.

The native comment box was a good idea but it would have been a great idea to give it to the users with full control like any other field.

This is already available in Forms 11 Update 4.

Great. I was aware it was available for the Cloud version but is that also available for the on premises version too?
