Question

Welink App Pool crashing continuously

asked on January 12, 2023

Weblink has been running into issues and crashing. When checking the event log I see the following.

Application pool 'WebLinkAppPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool.

My VAR helped to setup a robots.txt document because I am seeing hundreds of session for the name WEB in the weblink applications when checking "Sessions" under the "Activity" dropdown in LF Admin Console.

Anthony,

See the following answer from Miruna to see if you can temporarily correct the problem until you find a more permanent solution.

That message describes how IIS is responding to the crashes. Are there messages about the crashes themselves?

Just before one app pools being disabled I see a few.

Warning:A process serving application pool 'WebLinkAppPool' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '4720'. The data field contains the error number.

Looks like my question could be merged into the following question.

Ill check for updates like you suggested

"Before you start, it's work checking that you have all updates installed for IIS and the .Net Framework - since CLR.dll is the source of the crash, it's possibly a bug in there rather than in the web client application code."

I have Weblink version 11 and based on the release notes it looks like .NET 4.7.2 is required.

It's interesting that it looks like the exact same error as in the older thread. The same advice applies here - a crash dump would be very helpful to determine the cause.
