Question

Install of Windows client from same client directory yields different versions

asked on July 28, 2022

We have a client install directory set up for our Windows clients. Everyone uses the same install. However, I am noticing that we have a handful that have different versions after install than other people. I would like to know what causes the same installer to produce different results. Here is a screenshot of what I mean. You can see one client at 11.0.2102.183, two clients at 11.0.2103.223, and the rest are at 11.0.2201.233.

Thank you.

I would just run them 1 by 1. You can see a list of all the hotfixes that have been released here so you can read up on which ones should run before another. Usually doing it numerical order according to the KB article is sufficient, but I would check just in case.

Are you downloading the package from the support site when you install? We update it periodically to include the latest patches. The update happens on the second Tuesday of each month, if there were any patches released during the previous month. The list can be found in https://support.laserfiche.com/kb/1014263/software-versions-and-fixes-included-in-the-laserfiche-11-download-package

No, this is not from a downloaded package on each install. We downloaded the full LF install when we upgraded from 10.4 to11, and we are using that Windows installer from a shared folder on our server. So this is truly the same installer producing different end results on version installed.

The various hotfixes are in an Updates folder within the installer folders. If one of these failed to apply correctly that would cause the different versions you are seeing.

Would I just run a repair install to try to get them done, or run the hotfixes one by one by hand, or is there some other way you would suggest to do it?

OK, thanks for the information. I'll give it a try.

I'd also look at the install date under Apps and Features on those machines to confirm that the Laserfiche Windows Client was installed after February 2022 (when the package was updated with the patch that includes 11.0.2201.233)

These were all installed in or after May.
