Question

What do the redaction reasons look like? How to they appear?

asked on May 9, 2022

Is this like the "?" bubbles that when clicked or hovered overtop provide a window with more information as to the field/area? From everything I read what I could in the forum and it doesn't sound like it's a redaction overlay visible on the redaction itself, although the information is a few years old so maybe this has been updated? I was just hoping someone could shed some light on how this appears to the end-user when enabled?

Additionally, when you set redaction reasons, do you then also indicate which reason to show when setting a redaction (i.e. an additional step when manually adding redactions)? If I have multiple redaction reasons how would I choose which displayed reason applies to which redaction?

Thanks as always,

Jeremy

The web client will list reasons next to their corresponding redaction in the Annotations tab in the right pane. The desktop client will list the reason in the annotation properties.

When you apply a redaction, you get a pop up dialog with a list of reasons to choose from.

Thanks so much! Once I turn them on and create 1 (or more), can I disable their use or selectability without deleting them, either collectively and/or individually? Additionally, do you know if there are any materials available (LF or otherwise) that illustrate this? Else I'll just forge ahead on my own system and see where that lands ;) . Thanks again!

There's an overview in the documentation: https://doc.laserfiche.com/laserfiche.documentation/11/userguide/en-us/Subsystems/client_wa/Content/Annotations/Redaction.htm

It's just a list, there's no concept of "inactive" reasons.
