Question

Multiple Quick Fields Licenses assigned to same machine in LFDS

asked on April 28, 2022

I have been auditing our Quick Fields licenses in LFDS and noticed that a few machines have multiple licenses.

1.  How can this happen?

2.  What can we do in the future to avoid this?

3. How can I discover which license is actually active so I can delete the other?

LFDS is version 10.4.5.623

Hi Craig,

What might have happened is that Quick Fields was re-installed on those machines at some point and the installer was told not to use the existing registration for the license (so a new instance was registered). This can be remedied by opting to use the existing registration when installing. You can find which license is active by opening the LF.licx file that Quick Fields is using and looking for the "InstalledApplication Guid" inside. This will correspond to one of the Application GUIDs in LFDS.

Which version of QF are you using?

Chase,

Thanks, I was able to use your directions and find the active license for the workstation and delete the other license.
