The only real concern is in joining a domain for user management. If you want to join a classic domain over the WAN there is more complexity and possible bugs in the software and/or routing which increases the total downtime possibility and IT maintenance.

The other option is to use LDAP (still requires a bit of routing) which has limited features, or not use a domain at all for user management and manage the users directly in Laserfiche.

The downside to both of these alternatives is that the Admin console and Workflow designer has no prompt for credentials, it only has an option to authenticate with the current user, so you must log out and back in to your workstation with a matching local account to authenticate.
