Question

Question

migrate licenses

asked on April 27, 2021

According to https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/157714/Enabling-Laserfiche-Directory-Server-User-Authentication-in-Forms in order to use a LFDS participant license in Form I need to migrate users from the Laserfiche repository to the LFDS. The Laserfiche Forms Configuration can either have Laserfiche Server authentication or Laserfiche Directory Server, but not both, so I can skip steps 4, 5, 6, and 7.

The documentation that comes with the Migrating Repository Users has a PDF in the zip file which says there would need to be at least one account with Manage Trustee and Set Trustee Privileges permissions that remains behind as a named user.

Are there any problems or anything else that I should watch out for during the migration process?

Hi Michael,

Those steps you mentioned skipping may be necessary if you have already selected LFS authentication for Forms and no longer see the option to select LFDS authentication. Aside from that, I believe the whitepaper included with the Laserfiche Account Migration Tool package should cover most of the things you should look out for.

Hi Chase,

What if I'm using a localhost connection without a domain. Still, can I use the LFDS authentication for Forms?

Hi Rafael,

Forms and LFDS can be installed on the same machine with no problem, but LFDS is not supported on a workgroup machine.

Hi Chase,

In conclusion, Forms cannot use the "Use a Laserfiche Directory Server for Single-Sign-On authentication" for "User Authentication" because they are in a workgroup configuration? This is right?

Thanks

It would not be recommended unless the LFDS machine is joined to a domain. Forms itself can be on a workgroup machine if you wish.
