What do I need to be aware of if mass changing UPN's of all AD accounts?

What would be the impact of changing all AD accounts UPNs to a different format? We are using AD Sync for our identity provider. I did come across this article saying they had an issue with the membership to Forms after and hope this is just an isolated case:

Hi Jordan,

This situation should pose no problems for LFDS as long as the AD SIDs of all the users is remaining the same. While I can't speak with certainty about Forms or that specific case, I don't believe login would be impacted.
