Issue Launching Mobile App on 8th Generation iPad When Installed Using MDM

asked on December 10, 2020

User is loading the Laserfiche mobile app on 8th generation iPads using Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Microsoft Intune).  The app opens for 10 - 15 seconds and then closes.  If they load the app without using mobile device management (MDM), they are able install the app using an Apple ID and it open normally.  They are trying to load the software without the users having to use an Apple ID.

This only occurs with 8th generation iPads.  They are running iPadOS 14.2.  They are able to load 7th generation iPads using MDM and launch the app with no issues.  They are using the latest version of the mobile app and using device licensing for the Apple applications.

Does anyone have any experience with 8th generation iPad and MDM?  Is the only solution to load the application without using MDM?

I've used ManageEngine MDM to install the LaserFiche mobile app on a couple 8th gen iPads without problem.  I didn't do anything special to make that happen.  As you mentioned I acquired the licenses through Apple Business Manger then synced to MDM and added the app to the appropriate group, then assigned the iPads to the group.  I've also done this with a newer 4th gen iPad Air, and a bunch of pretty old iPads.  I have a 9th gen iPad on order, curious if I'll have any issues there.
