Question

Is Laserfiche Compatible with AWS Appstream?

asked on April 20, 2020

We are currently hosting our Laserfiche server in AWS on an EC2 server instance. In order to connect to the server, a VPN connection is required. Managment has asked for us to look into putting Laserfiche on AppStream, which looks promising, but there is nothing out there I can find on Laserfiche running with AppStream.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi Bryan,

Laserfiche has not formally tested compatibility with Amazon AppsStream 2.0.

That said, AppStream is almost certainly not the best solution to the problem you're trying to solve. If you don't want external users to have to VPN, putting the Laserfiche Web Client behind a public-facing AWS Application Load Balancer or Network Load Balancer as a reverse proxy is likely a better option.

If you can provide more information on who these users are and how they're using Laserfiche with what applications, I can perhaps offer a more tailored suggestion.

Info on how they're authenticating (AD, repository logins, etc.) would also be helpful.

Cheers,

Sam

Samuel, thanks for your reply and help. Putting Laserfiche behind an application or network load balancer acting as a reverse proxy, seems like a better way to approach this. I'll take a look at it and see if this is viable for us.

As for our setup, it's pretty basic. We Currently use Server 2012 R2 (Another reason to upgrade) and SQL 2016 on an a single EC2 instance. We only use a single repository, which is on the same server. The server is a member server on our domain and authentication is done via Active Directory.

Thanks for the tips - Going to look further into this

Take care!
