Question

Connecting Workflow Designer to Workflow server on different domain

asked on March 31, 2020

We are in the process of migrating one of our customers to a new domain and one of the workstations / user profiles on the new domain cannot connect their Workflow Designer to the workflow server on the old domain. The error we get is that the server rejected the client credentials.

There is an answers post found here indicates that it's not possible to get this running cross-domain, but I'm wondering if there's an update as the answer is about 6 years old: https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/57558/Hosted-Laserfiche-Server

We are planning on migrating to the new domain shortly, just wondering if there's an interim solution we can use to keep everything running for a few days in the meantime.

Hi Brian,

I believe it should be able to work if there is a two-way trust in place between the new and old domains. The post you linked is not about cross-domain communications, but rather Workflow Designer on a non-domain-joined workstation being unable to connect to Workflow Server.

If you have a working domain trust in place and still aren't having any luck, it may be appropriate to grant the user non-administrator RDP access to the Workflow Server so they can run Workflow Designer locally.

Cheers,

Thanks Sam, we had a customer that was in the process of switching domains and we ended up moving LF to the new domain sooner than planned.
