Hello Everyone,
I have seen some posts about this issue but I want to make this all clear because I have seen this situation before and even though I can "fix" it, I still don't understand it.
The situation is this. The document is scanned on a MFP by Richo. Emailed directly to the user. The attachment called "1. Original Scan". We then import into the repository and generate pages, OCR and Delete Electronic file.
The file is now in the repository as a Tiff. The resolution catches my eye because it's at 1704 x 2200 at 72DPI. Now I want to export it for a process outside of Laserfiche. When the document is exported, the default setting is to export as PDF. The PDF is then created and when looking at the document properties, it says the document is 23.67 x 30.56 Inches! When looking at the properties of the original scan, it says 8.5 x 11 inches. This is the attachment called "2. Export and explosion".
I found that if I change one setting. The Import monochrome images under "When importing PDFs", this ensure the document stays the resolution I would expect. In the repository, the document is now 2550 x 3300 and 300DPI. Then when the document is exported, it exports at the normal 8.5 x 11 in size. Attachment "3. original scan" is this file.
Can someone explain why this one setting keeps the document at the resolution I expected? What if I don't want all my PDFs that are imported to be monochrome? Why would a color scan behave in this way?
I was using Client 10.4.0.311 and also want to make sure I can do this in Web Access 10.4 since that is what most of my users are on. Thank you.
