Laserfiche Workflow 10.4 Setup Window After Restarting During Installation

asked on December 31, 2019

When installing certain Laserfiche products I have noticed that when certain prerequisites need to be installed and require a restart before the Laserfiche products are installed I get presented with window such as the following after logging back into the server after it restarts.

If I click OK and wait, nothing happens. I have just gone back in and restarted the installation of the product in question. What is the purpose of this Window and should I be doing something with it?

Hi Blake, happy new year!

The window you're seeing is not expected-- in my experience it only shows up when something calls SetupLf.exe incorrectly, but may possibly show up for other reasons as well. No work is being done while this window up, so you can dismiss it and reboot your installer with confidence.

I'll take a look at this and see if I can reproduce it. If you could confirm (1) that this happens consistently, and (2) provide some additional information, such as your machine OS and the version of WF you are installing, that may help the investigation to be more fruitful. I'm assuming (perhaps erroneously) that this is happening when you install .NET 4.8 for a Workflow 10.4.2 installation, and will begin looking there. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sincerely,

Joe (QA on the Workflow team)

Yes, you are correct that this usually only happens when .NET is being installed and then the server needs to restart to finish the installation. I just did it with a Windows Server 2016 and Laserfiche 10.4.2.
