Participant Licensing without Constant LFDS Server Connection?

asked on October 18, 2019 Show version history

Hello,

I am wondering if participant licenses can be used for forms and web access without a constant connection with the LFDS server. Although I believe this isn't possible for LFDS authentication as the authentication call is made directly to the LFDS server through the LFDSSTS connection therefore this wouldn't be an option..

Am i able to use the Laserfiche Server authentication and use the particpant licenses within my LFDS server to assign the licenses to forms and repository etc and make use of the licensing 'heartbeat' between the LF server and the LFDS to allow authentication of users in forms without connection to the LFDS? I have heard about a different type of participant license (authenticated partcipant) is this what i require and are they compatible with the repository access?

Thank you in advance

Hi Christian

I have been able to use the new non-ldap participant licensing with Web Client without the need of STS Auth. However, and I reached out to Laserfiche where I received confirmation of this, for Forms it is impossible, you must enable both STS and SSO (if you want to use the LF App for Mobile Devices).

The ldap Participant Licensing (Authenticated Participants) works without any need for STS, they will authenticate directly with Forms and forms uses LDAP to auth. The downside are that users must login with their email as their username in Forms, no group security for forms access rights is available, no automated sync to AD for assigning licenses is available, they do not get free repository read-only access.
