Feature Request: Add Option for if Installation is in a DMZ

asked on October 16, 2019 Show version history

I have had this conversation with a few people including @████████ and @████████ at Laserfiche, but wanted to officially post the request. I think a common issue is doing configurations in a DMZ for the different Laserfiche web applications. There are lots of changes that have to be done by following different white papers in numerous web.config files.

My request is that in the different configuration pages for the Laserfiche web products that a checkbox be added to say whether or not the product is being installed in a DMZ. If it is, then provide additional configuration fields that pertain specifically to a DMZ setup so that the different config files do not have to be touched manually. If the fields are are labeled correctly, it will also ease confusion as to what addresses should be changed depending on what configuration is being used.

Agreed.  In fact, this should be implemented as a "role" selection that reflects both functional roles (like Forms's primary versus non-primary functional role) as well as common network zone (i.e. LAN vs DMZ).

There's really only a few permutations of these to comprise 90% of the implementation scenarios.

I agree. Editing config files is also dangerous and typically may get easily overwritten during an upgrade. These type of changes need to be core to the application if they are to be supported for the long term.

Yes please! Currently have a few clients where we're trying to sort out their DMZ config.
