Question

Adding users from a new Identity Provider is populating the User Name field with Distinguished Name

asked on September 13, 2019 Show version history

All in Directory Server 10.4

I have added a second Identity Provider for another domain as Active Directory Type ( from an SBS2008 ) SBS2011

I provided the Host, UserName and password. I can connect and it gets added without error.

When I add a user, I select Windows Active Directory User. Register Directory User I select the new Identity provider in the drop down and search. I get a search result with the user I would like to add and then add them.

When I view the User under the Profile tab the User name* field is populated with what looks like the Distinguished Name string

CS=user,OU=SBSUSers,OU=Users,OU=Mybusiness,DC=domain,DC=local

when I try to log in with the user I get incorrect name or password error. Looking at the AD server in the domain we see in the logs that its returning an unblocked authentication response.

Is this something in laserfiche configuration I am missing ? or an AD issue ?

Our other Domain works.. This one is SBS2008, SBS2011 would that cause an issue ?

thanks

EDITED: Confirmed it's SBS2011

Hi Ryan,

Feel free to contact Laserfiche support for help troubleshooting this issue. I suspect this is a problem with the AD configuration. Also note that we do not support SBS.

Hi Chase,

Was this an issue with the AD configuration? We too have encountered the same issue.

Thanks,

Dom

We are in the middle of working with Laserfiche through our VAR to troubleshoot this.

i will update more when we have a solution, but could be some time

Hi, we have this same issue in Laserfiche Directory Server Version 11.0.0.1143. Was there ever a solution provided? Thanks!

I am also in the same boat with LDAP distinguished names showing up instead of AD users. This occurred for another customer last year and I had to open a case and apply a patch (that was an official release iirc) and the cause was due to slashes or symbols in the OU that the users belonged to.

Kinda surprised that it's come back.
