Question

Deactivate products without hardware ID

asked on August 20, 2019

Hi,

We had a major server crash which resulted in me having to reinstall the host operating system, installing new hyper v VMs and reattaching the old virtual hard disks.

As such I assume I have to deactivate the old product installations and reactivate but I’m not sure how I can do this without the hardware IDs

When I tried to deactivate using just the product key, it didn’t work.

below is the error I get from web access

The Laserfiche web client cannot find a valid license file. Use the activation tool at C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\ActivationTool.exe to activate, or place a valid license file in C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Web Access\.

Error: Invalid license (Missing Site element.).

Is there any way I can deactivate and reactivate? I’m using avanate 10.2

Hi Ruel,

There is no way to de-activate without the HWFP, it's absolutely required.

The HWFP is inside all of the license files (LF.LICX) if you can get hold of any of those from any of the licensed options. That will contain your HWFP. wink

Failing that you can get your VAR to get in touch with Laserfiche support and they can provide you your old HWFP and you can then use this to de-activate.

Also if you have recovered the C drive, all the activations are logged in C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\LFActivationLog.txt.

Hope this helps!

Laserfiche Tech Support should be able to help you out if you have valid LSAP for your product.
