We are upgrading from United to Rio.
We currently have the following:
- United licensing model
- Running Laserfiche Server 10.3.1 (installed from the Avante install package) on a vm server that's also running Import Agent
- Laserfiche SQL database on a dedicated vm server
- Laserfiche Forms (on a dedicated internal vm web server)
- WebLink (on a vm web server that is public, in our DMZ)
- Workflow (on a dedicated vm server, but shared with other smaller internal websites)
- 1 user running Quick Fields
- Approximately 250 repository users, all running Laserfiche client versions 8.2.1 or 10.3
Assumptions:
- I'll need to recreate all Laserfiche groups and users. So, we created an AD security group for our largest Laserfiche group. I exported the list of groups (in Admin Console) to an XML file and exported the list of users to a CSV file, both of which I'll refer to when manually recreating the groups.
- I can install LFDS, Forms, Web Client, and WebLink on the same internal vm web server.
I have a few questions before upgrading:
- After activating our Rio licenses, will the repository users be able to access the repository using their existing client software?
- I’ll be installing Directory Server (from the Laserfiche Rio 10.3.1 package) on a new server. Will I need to install the Rio version of Laserfiche Server on our repository server?
- Can I just install over the existing 10.3.1 Avante version? Or do I need to uninstall Laserfiche 10.3.1 (Avante) and then install Laserfiche 10.3.1 (Rio)?
- Is it better to install 10.3.1 Rio (matching the Avante version we currently have), or should I install the newer 10.4 Rio version?
I will be saving snapshots of our Laserfiche servers, in case I need to roll back. I have read the white paper "Laserfiche Rio 10.3: Deployment Guide".
