Question

Hardware Fingerprint changed. Rio seems to still work.

asked on May 31, 2019

My process when hardware changes is always to update the new fingerprint and hostid where needed and re-license.

I checked in with a Rio system a customer is using as they switch hardware without notifying me and their system is working just fine.

Is the process with Rio the same for Avante where I should continue to re-license all applications? Or should I essentially ignore the fingerprint as Rio is controlling the licensing between apps instead of the Laserfiche license server?

Some level of hardware change is allowed before the hwfp becomes invalid, based on the algorithm used (although I don't personally know exactly what type of change would or wouldn't cover). Sounds like this customer happened to stay within that threshold. There's no difference between Rio and Avante environments in general.

To add to that, I'd stick with your normal process and update the license now that you know there's been a change so that they retain the intended level of flexibility in the future.
