Question

task in forms Locked

asked on May 8, 2019 Show version history

Hello everyone,

i have trouble with Forms tasks getting locked .

In some cases when the user submits the forms nothing happened , the next user to whom the task is assigned don't find it in his inbox.

We found in the monitoring that the task is locked. so we had to resign the task to another user than resign it to the right user again.

do you have an idea of what is happening?

If my translation is correct, that task is locked, meaning the form has been submitted but it is still waiting to be processed by the routing engine. Are other submissions going through? Is your routing engine up and running?

It might be easier to troubleshoot via a support case.

We actually just ran into a similar issue, and the underlying cause was that the server resources were overwhelmed.

When we checked the server, CPU and RAM were maxing out, which caused a backlog in the routing service.

In our case, we waited 2 days but the Locked state never resolved itself. Since then we have doubled the server specs.

Looks like you had a few Answers posts this morning that all point to limited resources.

thank you both for your answers,

yes Jared i do have some posts, this customer has a lot of problems; do you think all these problems are related to the resource issue?

the posts are https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/158860/Exception-of-type-SystemOutOfMemoryException-was-thrown

and https://answers.laserfiche.com/questions/158863/Loosing-data-in-Forms

We checked using the windows monitoring and it seems to be ok

Jason,

We waited and  the Locked state never resolved itself neither, so we had to reasign the task to another user then reasign it to the right user and this worked.

Jared,

yes other submissions going through, it happens randomly, and the routing engine is up and running?

I'd suggest opening a support case so we can investigate the issue more closely.

Did you ever get to the root cause of this issue?  I have one form that keeps getting locked.  I look at monitor - it says it's in process but when I click the link to look at it - I get the locked message.  I reassign the task and them I'm able to open the task.  However it seems that this is a recurring issue so I need to know what I should be looking for.  It only seems to happen with a single form - there are other form processes that are working well.

Please advise.

Thanks

Sandy

@████████

For us and some others, it was an issue with insufficient resources on the server.

The best place to start would be monitoring the Forms server to see if, or how often, it maxes out the CPU/RAM and go from there.

How did you unlock them once your CPU was available again?

It should be processed automatically when routing service becomes available.

If it does not complete after long time, you may consider restarting the user task.

Oh ok so your just saying if the CPU is maxed out, the tasks will be locked while waiting for the calculations to take place.

In this case the tasks were locked while at less than 20% CPU usage so I am not sure why we were waiting. It took about 7 days to become unlocked and we were looking for a way to unlock them as an administrator of the system while there was plenty of processing power available to perform the task.

The locked tasks are waiting to be processed by routing service. It usually happens when routing service was stopped when task was approved.

You may set log level to debug and check file logs to see if routing was running normal.
