Question

Laserfiche Implimentation Best Practices

asked on April 26, 2019

We purchased LF in November 2017. We were originally given a 90-day implementation timeline. LF repository was installed in July 2018. We were sold LF based on the workflow and automation benefits it could bring to our office. We have yet to have even one workflow process be completed from beginning to end. They have created a few workflows that help within certain processes. What are others experiences with implementing LF? Has anyone had a similar situation where the vendor seems unable or unwilling to complete the project? Are there recommendations for best practices in implementing LF that could help us get back on track? We are 17 months in with no end in sight.

17 months seems pretty excessive for implementing a single, well-defined process, but there are a lot of potentially complicating factors. Is the VAR stuck waiting on something from your organization, or are they simply being unresponsive? Perhaps the scope of the initial project is too ambitious?

With any large project, it's important to have a regular (usually weekly or bi-weekly) meeting of the key team members to quickly let everyone know what progress has been made since the last meeting and what the next steps are to move forward. If those aren't happening or if the meetings aren't productive, then the project manager needs to find out why.

Another thing to consider is finding a quick win. If your organization spends too long seeing Laserfiche as a lumbering project that never got off the ground, you're going to face a much harder time convincing your teammates to adapt their processes when you do get it moving.
