Hi

I have a group of users assigned Read Only access that can navigate to a folder via LF web access.

The folder contains email messages (i.e. documents with the .msg extension).

Users can open those email messages, but not the attachments associated with those messages.

Email appears to be opening in a document viewer. Users cannot see the attachments

Users can open documents not associated with an email message

When I checked Options > Display > Viewing, default behavior is set to Download electronic files. That's clearly not happening.

Thoughts??

Mark

We have added support in recent releases to a "preview" of the contents of an email, where you can read it directly in the browser.  For a full view of formatting and attachments users might need to download the original msg or eml file.  Does that match with what you see?

Thanks Brian.

But users are not able to download original message. Process works like this:

  1. An HR Recruiter creates a job posting folder in Laserfiche identifying the job title and job number

  2. HR Recruiter moves email message that contains cover letter and resume into LF folder

  3. HR Recruiter then informs the hiring manager (who has Read Only access) about the resume, and that s/he should review it

  4. Hiring manager navigates to folder and attempts to download email but cannot download it. Manager can read email in Viewer but cannot see attachments

This should be a very simple process. Eventually, we will integrate workflow but for now, we are keeping it simple

Sorry, I'm still not clear on what goes wrong at step 4.  When the user attempts to download email but cannot download it: Does the user not see the download option?  Or they do see it but it doesn't work for them?  Is it particular to these users, i.e. can other users such as the one who put it in the repository download successfully?

Users assigned a full license can download attachments embedded in an email message. Users assigned an educational license cannot download attachments because they don't appear in the message

There isn't anything about the educational license type that should limit this functionality.  Can you have your reseller open a support case so we can gather more information?
