Question

Participate License

asked on December 11, 2018

We are working to add participate license for Forms user to have. Currently the only way I am able to get a user into forms is through granting membership in Active Directory, giving a Full License in LFDS and  in forms it is set to user --> Inherit from group. Can anyone please advise how to set up, in a way that does not use a full license. We have installed Rio 10.3 of Laserfiche.

One attempt that I tried and failed example: Added user to LF-Participant Licence Group in AD, gave Participate license in LFDS and in forms user shows with invalid status.

Any help is every much appreciated.

Hi Amanda,

When adding a user to Forms, there are two things that must be done

  1. Grant the user a Named User OR Participant license
  2. Add the user to a group that has access to Forms

On the FormsConfig page, find out which LFDS group or groups are granted access; this part actually gives the user permission to use Forms.

In LFDS, add a rule under the Identity Provider section that will assign a Participant License to the target AD group.

In LFDS, add the target AD group to a LFDS group that has been granted access to Forms as seen on the FormsConfig page (these groups can be nested, we have a "Forms" group that has access in FormsConfig and we nest our LFDS groups inside of that).

If you are seeing the user as "Invalid" the next thing to check is LFDS to see if the user is listed and has a license.

If they have a Participant License but still appear as invalid, then they probably do not have membership in a LFDS group that has access to Forms.

Thank you for the quick response. I am waiting on the vendor to reach out to close a open ticket, since I am not able to login as System Admin to LF.  I will let you know after that is resolved if I am able to complete the steps above. It does make more sense now. I think I was missing the formsconfig link all together.  Thank you again!

Thank you, I am waiting on a ticket resolution to get access to the System Admin of LF. I hope after all of this I will be able to complete the steps you so kindly provided. Thanks for sharing.
